On May 9, 2026, the Swiss preliminary round of the 6th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Show for Primary School Students was grandly held in Bern, Switzerland. Young Chinese learners from across Switzerland gathered together to present themselves in Chinese, express their passion, and share Chinese culture.
The Chinese Institute Geneva Foundation (CIG) travelled to Bern with a delegation of 20 people, including 3 participating students, 4 performance students, the school principal, teachers, and parents.

The three CIG contestants each delivered a Chinese self-introduction entirely from memory, followed by talent performances including Chinese songs, kung fu, and Chinese rap. Every performance reflected the students’ careful preparation and the dedicated guidance of their teachers. Through different artistic forms, the children expressed their love for the Chinese language and culture.
Meanwhile, four students from the CIG Mingyue Art Troupe were invited to perform as guest performers at the event. They presented a wonderful fusion dance, skillfully combining Chinese traditional elements with modern street dance, showing the youthful energy created by the encounter between tradition and modernity.

Seeing the children bravely step onto a larger stage, confidently express themselves in Chinese, and share culture through dance made us feel deeply moved and proud. Even more importantly, the children gained joy and a strong sense of achievement from this experience. Many parents also expressed that such an opportunity was truly valuable, as it not only broadened the children’s horizons but also inspired their motivation to continue learning Chinese.
